Breathwork is the intentional practice of using the breath to influence physical, emotional, and mental states. It involves specific breathing techniques that can regulate the nervous system, release stored emotions, enhance energy flow, and deepen self-awareness.
Some breathwork styles focus on calming and grounding, using slow, deep breathing to activate the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest). Others are more dynamic and transformative, using rhythmic or deep breathing to access altered states of consciousness, release emotional blockages, and expand awareness.
Breathwork is rooted in ancient traditions like Pranayama from Yoga, Taoist breathing, and shamanic practices, but it has also evolved with modern science, incorporating trauma-informed approaches and somatic healing methods.
At its core, breathwork reconnects us to the power of our breath—our most accessible tool for presence, regulation, and transformation.
The breathwork i teach is rooted in Pranayama, ancient Yogic practice of awakening and cultivating life force via specific breath techniques.
